Tour News
Having spent the summer of 2007 in the sheltered confines of a recording studio,
pop royalty Westlife are pleased to announce their return to arenas across the
country for the 'Back Home Tour 2008'..
Promising evenings of seamless pop precision, the tour will travel across the
UK in February and March, including stops at London's O2 and the Manchester
Evening News Arena. Showcasing tracks from their new album, 'Back Home' (released
on November 5th) the boys will also perform their biggest hits and favourite
album tracks from their vast catalogue.
The band's last concert tour, 2006's 'The Love Tour', visited countries across
the globe, with stops in Australia, South Africa and their home city of Dublin.
On arrival at London's Wembley Arena, it was declared that the boys had sold
more tickets at the venue than any other act and had played a record number
of dates there, a remarkable 23.
No modern band can compare to Westlife's extraordinary success. In their nine
years aboard the pop express they have sold over 36 million records globally
and been awarded twenty eight platinum discs. In the UK alone they have scored
eight multi-platinum albums and a record breaking 14 number one hits (behind
only Elvis and The Beatles). The band has also picked up innumerable awards
and appeared on hundreds of magazine covers around the world. They are the only
recording artists to win the prestigious ?Record Of The Year' a staggering four
times (other top awards include two BRITS and an MTV Europe Award).
Their most recent release, 'The Love Album', was the biggest selling record
of 2006 for label SonyBMG, with one million sales to date. The album arrived,
triumphantly, at number one on the UK album charts, outselling major releases
by Oasis, U2 and The Beatles.
