THE LOVE TOUR REVIEWS FEBRUARY 2007

Acer Arena, Sydney – Lisa’s Review – 28 February 2007

27 February 2007

A night to remember, forever !!!

WOW, what can I say ... what an amazing show!!! From the moment the band started playing, to Westlife making a spectacular entrance and singing some of the older favourite songs and new tracks from the Love Album, right through to the finale/encore - Westlife never stopped entertaining the audience (most of which were out of their seats, bopping away, for the whole show).

The show itself was a mix of great costumes, energetic choreography and perfect vocals - all to thrill the audience and prove why Westlife are one of the most successful boybands of all time!

On a personal level, to top off a great night for me - to have Nicky pick up my Irish flag (which I threw on stage), and wrap it around his shoulders after the encore, made me the happiest person in the arena. I'm still beaming everytime I talk about it…

My dream came true last night - seeing a live Westlife concert... Thank you to the lads for making it one of the best experiences of my life!!

I hope there are many more Australian tours in the near future for Westlife!!

Melbourne Review – 27 February 2007

Thanks for all of your reviews of Westlife's Adelaide show. Here's one of our favourites - click here to read some more!

ARGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG OMG OMG OMG

Okay, sorry had to get that out of my system. And for some reason, I can't remember the proper order of the songs, or even all of them, so please forgive me if some are outta place!

Just got home from the Melbourne show, which ended about an hour ago. It was, in a word, fantastic. ‘Twas worth every cent I paid just to finally see the guys, live, in front of me. Well, not quite in front, I had a nice, side on view of them, but I didn't mind. Any view was a good view!

Boys opened up with Total Eclipse of the Heart, and if you think they sound good on CD, it's nothing to what they sound like when they are standing in front of you. (Okay, to the side!)

Following that, it was time for some old school, and it was 'If I Let You Go'. Nicky singing Bryan’s part = classic. His voice suited the part sooo well and it sounded great.

When You’re Looking Like That came next, time for a dance in my seat, people behind me didn't want anyone to stand! Bah! Screamed, screamed and sang and screamed some more. Mmm, Shane in the flesh!

Nicky then had a few words and dedicated the song to any Mandys in the crowd.

Mandy came next, sooo cute and then, the best bit of the whole show (in my opinion), the medley.

There was a talking bit (sounded somewhat like Mark), and everyone screamed the house down when the Backstreet Boys were mentioned. Have a feeling that if you’re a Westlife fan, then your a BSB fan too, but that could just be Melbourne!

Backstreet’s Back opened the medley and OMG they did the whole proper dance to it, that BSB did. Was great to see 3 of the lads getting into it, poor Mark seemed lost and confused and didn't bother some of the time! Have to admit, by that stage I was, stuff the ppl behind me and got up and danced for all of Backstreet’s Back, heaps of fun!

You've Got The Right Stuff was next, a song I’ve never heard before, but enjoyed none the less.

Picture Of You closely followed, and with it more dancing and some very cute moves and lots of screaming and singing from the crowd!

Everything Changes was next, another one I didn't know, but once again, enjoyed heaps.

Uptown girl was ARGGG sooo good, an all time favourite song, especially when Nicky sings and they danced!

Amazing, Unbreakable, You Raise Me Up, World Of Our Own all came one after another, I'm kinda hazy on the details, but I am tired and will probably remember better tomorrow!

Flying Without Wings and The Rose were the last 2 songs and were just perfect, sounded brilliant, that I can remember!

I've had the time of my life!

Adelaide Review – 27 February 2007

Thanks for all of your reviews of Westlife's Adelaide show. Here's one of our favourites - click here to read some more!

The show is excellent. I can't describe how amazing it was to see WL in Aus. Shane's microphone didn't work for some of TEOTH and Mark looked at him and cracked up laughing, then missed his queue. It was nice to see them laughing in the middle of the first song!

My favourite part was the medley. Picture of you is great and they sing most of the whole songs rather than a shortened song. The dancing is fab, on the floor and spinning and stuff! haha...

Amazing YRMU and the ending are exactly like the F2F tour, and that was nice, as we missed that one, but now I'm glad we did cause we wouldn't have them now, as this is soo much better!!!!

I love the little door in World of our Own, the change of lead in Mandy *YAY Nicky* and the whole Backstreet's Back dance!!!

Mark didn't speak to the crowd, but he is ill and it showed, he was saving his voice for the beautiful vocal he did. Being a Nicky fan I wasn't looking forward to You are so Beautiful, but Shane and Mark sang that so perfectly, it was actually one of my highlights of the show.

This is the best tour that I've seen live, having been overseas to see them previously and I can't wait for the next three shows! It was great to hear Shane sing 'to know that I can say I love you Adelaide', the crowd cheered so loudly! And it was even better to hear Kian say that they would definitely be back to tour here again, and I am holding him to that!!

Thanks to all my gorgeous girls and guys for making the night so much fun and Kaz, what a birthday present!!!

That’s The Life, Fellas – 26 February 2007

Amid a swirling girlfest of glowbangles, slow waving arms, screams and sighs, four polite young irishmen sang some very nice songs.

Westlife appeals to a certain niche and that niche was out in force determined to have a great night.

From a thunderous start, the boys hit the stage singing their latest single Total Eclipse of the Heart, the latest hit from the band which has pegged 13 number one singles in Britain, and sold more than 35 million albums.

A mix of cover songs and originals delighted the crowd in equal doses ranging across numbers such as You Are So Beautiful, Easy, The Rose, Mandy, You Raise Me Up, Flying Without Wings, If I Let You Go and When You're Looking Like That plus tracks from their new The Love Album.

With synchronised choreography, plenty of costume changes and lots of smiles the young lads looked like they were having a good time and told the audience so.

As the ballads flowed, each took a turn to chat and rather than the rock star profanities the well mannered gentlemen thanked the audience for supporting them and said how much they enjoyed Australia. It was music to the audience's ears.

Westlife varied between sitting while singing slow ballads to belting out upbeat dance numbers with in sync dancing, singing, walking, smiling, scowling - although even the scowls were good natured.

Listeners were left in no doubt as to the bands background - at one stage a narration blaring out from a darkened stage told of four friends who liked to harmonise "inspired by their heroes including NKOTB, Boyzone, Take That and the Backstreet Boys."

"We had a dream of being our own boyband" the narration intoned then suddenly the lights came back on and the lads ran through an energetic medley tribute to their boyband heroes.

As the harmonies flowed and melodies melded a night of slightly predictable, quite safe pop fun unfolded.

One thing firmly on Westlife's side on the current tour of Australia is its band - a foursome of four bald, black musicians who provided sizzling musical backing and a visual contrast to the singers, particularly the red hot lead guitarist.

Support act Anthony Callea gave his soaring vocals a good work out to warm up the audience with some good humour and genuine energy.

Boys' Trip Down Memory Lane – 24 February 2007

DANIELLE O'DONOHUE MUSIC WRITER

COSTUME changes, pyrotechnics, a New Kids on the Block cover and boy band dance moves - welcome to 2007, Westlife style.

Though boy bands are no longer the chart force they once were, this group of four Irishmen entertained a small but enthusiastic crowd at the Entertainment Centre.

An early technical glitch – Shane's microphone dropped out in during first song Total Eclipse of the Heart – proved there would be no lip syncing embarrassment – a la Ashlee Simpson as the four boys worked their way through covers, old hits and songs from their new The Love Album.

The night's highlight was a trip down boy band memory lane where the band paid homage to its predecessors, including New Kids on the Block, Backstreet Boys, Boyzone and Take That though the introduction to the homage wrote former member Brian McFadden out of the Westlife script.

Beginning the extended medley with Backstreet's Back and New Kid's on the Block's the Right Stuff, the four Irishmen even had each of the group's dance moves down pat.

One of Westlife's biggest hits, their version of Billy Joel's Uptown Girl had people on their feet dancing, while everyone sang along to recent single Raise Me Up.

White suits were donned for the encore of Flying Without Wings and a cover of the Better Midler hit The Rose as a shower of sparks brought the show to an end on a down-tempo note, too soon for the cheering crowd.
