Tour DVD Update – 29 March 2007

Marie called SONY BMG to ask about The Love Tour not being released on DVD. Here is what she said and the reply she got:

“Just got off the phone from the lady at SONY BMG who deals with the boys and she has confirmed that there will be no DVD of The Love Tour, however, they will be making a DVD towards the end of the year, with interviews of the boys and probably clips from The Love Tour, but not the full concert. I stressed to her that many many fans are very sad to hear that, and that it wasn't very nice for the fans who have heard all about the concert, and were unable to go.”

If you want to call SONY BMG and let them know you want The Love Tour to be recorded for a DVD the phone number is 02073847500. Ask to speak to someone regarding Westlife.

Petition – The Love Tour DVD – 28 March 2007

I’m afraid I have some bad news about the Love Tour being recorded for a DVD… Dawn spoke to someone she knows in Brighton today and apparently SONY BMG have pulled the DVD. It was meant to be recorded in Belfast but they have scrapped it.

Kez opened a petition so that we’ll try to change that. So PLEASE sign the petition. We NEED to have The Love Tour on DVD. I’m going to see them live this weekend but I still want to have the tour on DVD and I’m sure we all do. Even more those who are not able to see the tour.

SIGN THE PETITION HERE

Let everyone know about it and ask them to sign it too.

That's Amore! (Kian Interview) – 27 March 2007

Westlife are in love... Kian Egan answers the questions

By Dave Freak

Coming in the wake of Take That and Boyzone, Irish all-male vocal combo Westlife have arguably surpassed their peers, selling over 35 million records worldwide, including seven multi-platinum UK albums and over a dozen number one singles - placing them in the same league as Cliff Richard, Elvis Presley and The Beatles.

Their most recent collection is The Love Album, 11 interpretations of tracks on the theme of amore including Bette Midler's The Rose, Bonnie Tyler's Total Eclipse Of The Heart, Lionel Richie's Easy and The Righteous Brothers' You've Lost That Loving Feeling.

Currently in the middle of a world tour, Kian took a break from their hectic schedule to chat to What's On.

How did you select the tracks for the latest album?
It was difficult enough. We made a list and our management and our record company went through the 150-200 songs and we short-listed as we went along - 'Yeah, that's a great song, nah, won't work...' - and went on like that until we had about 20, and from that 20 we let our manager Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell pick. To be honest they're the most experienced and wiser.

Are there any that didn't make the final cut that you would have liked to have seen on the album?
Yeah. There was one song in particular I'd like to have seen on the album, Chicago's Hard to Say I'm Sorry - love that song. But Simon said it made the album cheap, he said we had 10 to 11 classic classic classic love songs there that are really superb songs but Hard To Say I'm Sorry was a bit too... I dunno, common? He wasn't feeling it, so it's gone to the bin.

Did you feel that there was a risk that'd the album might be a little too... cheesy?
Westlife aren't your most typical serious band, we're a pop band who make good sounding records and I guess cheesy kinda works for us sometimes [laughs]. Our audience are a simple audience, they look to us to for nice songs sung nicely and that's what we do. To be honest with you, we're not out there looking for credibility or looking to be cool, we're out there because we like what we're doing.

Were you already familiar with all the songs selected?
Mostly. But there were some I wasn't so familiar with. You Light Up My Life by Debbie Boone - I knew of the song but didn't know the verse, I could hum the chorus. A song like that was very well chosen by Louis and Simon. The Dance by Garth Brooks is another not so well known song, although in Ireland it's huge, so that was a big favourite of ours. Joe Cocker's You Are So Beautiful is a song I'd never have imagined us doing, but it turned out beautiful. That's what we do. We record good songs and try to make them sound good.

When you're recording a new album, do you go out of your way to look for a challenge?
It's not necessarily what we look for. But if we heard a great song, we wouldn't say that's a great song but it might not suit us, we've never ever ever been that. Total Eclipse Of The Heart, the Bonnie Tyler song, which is our next single, is a huge song and a huge huge challenge for us - it wasn't something that we'd back away from, we said if it works, it works, and it ended up working.

You've included a track called All Or Nothing which was originally written for you ages ago but rejected...
Yes, it's the first time we've recorded it. It was turned down, Simon turned it down for us years ago and it got passed on to an American boyband, O Town, who ended up having a number one American hit with it. As much as Simon gets it right, he does sometimes get it wrong [laughs]. On that front, we weren't too annoyed, at the end of the day, we've had so much success, and Louis and Simon have made some great choices .... it's a good song. I think I prefer O Town's full production, but our acoustic version is nice.

You're breaking into Australia, China, South Africa and other countries - how's progress?
Everywhere [we tour] is arenas. Not necessarily the same size as here and we'd only play one night per city but Cape Town is about 10,000 [capacity], Johannesburg is about 18,000, Australia - it's the first time we've every toured Australia - general ticket sales are 5,000-6,000, and across Europe we sell a lot of records too.

You've been at the top of your game for nearly a decade - what challenges do you think Westlife face?
I don't know. We're not a band who write our own songs, we're not a rock band, we're not a band who go into a studio for three months and have gotta come out with something or we're by the wayside, we're the kind of band that relies on other songwriters. If the songs aren't there, we look to the cover versions. We try to record great pop songs. And luckily for us there's never shortage of good pop songs. We'd like to carry on, do another album this year, we're looking at a Best Of Westlife in next two to three years. We're coming up to our tenth year as Westlife next year, so we're just sailing along and enjoying the ride, you know [laughs]. Keep enjoying it for as long as we can. As long as we enjoy it and the fans enjoy it, we'll keep on.

Any plans for your 10th anniversary yet?
We haven't talked about it yet, but I think the record company want to do something big.

Anything you'd like to do?
No. Not really.

You seem to have tapped into something with The Love Album - any plans for a Love Album II?
It's not something we'd do straight away. For Westlife, I'd like to make a studio album of new songs with maybe a couple of covers on, like the Face To Face album we did a couple of years ago. We haven't got to the point where we're heavily discussing what we'll do next, but we haven't ruled Love II out 100%.

Westlife Mentioned In New Brian Interview – 26 March 2007

Interview shortened and only includes the parts about Westlife

YOU might be forgiven for believing that Brian McFadden is what he himself calls "a real prick". He did, after all, ditch his wife Kerry Katona during a phone call, slept with at least four well-known female pop stars then publicly humiliated Kerry not long after their relationship ended by recording the Almost Here duet with his 'New Love' Delta Goodrem, right? Wrong.

In fact, none of these stories is true. At least that's what Brian told me during this interview, which he promised would be "totally honest". Partly, apparently, because he's still grateful I gave him his first serious interview when he was "just a kid starting out with Westlife!"!

"Before joining Westlife I'd only ever kissed one girl! And even when we were touring at the start I'd get even more lonely looking at the other lads in the group with their long-time girlfriends - and I'm sure Mark had a boyfriend - whereas I had no one. So when Kerry came along and wanted me, that gap was filled and I felt good simply because I had someone to share everything with. Then she got pregnant, and everything went into even more of a mad whirl."

On leaving Westlife

Brian seems just as eager to put on the record the "real reasons" he left the group - which is, let's face it, fundamentally, as with U2, a multimillion euro-making music machine. Yet, that, as it transpires, is precisely why McFadden finally had to leave. And the breaking point was Westlife recording Mandy.

"We'd worked our arses off doing the Turnaround album, which was mostly original songs… brilliant," he says. "But then we put out the single Hey Whatever but it only went to number three - as far as I'm concerned, it just didn't get the record company support it deserved.

"Then Simon Cowell says, 'I told you what happens when you want to make your own albums. You're going to be dropped, but I have the record that will save your career,' and he played Barry Manilow's Mandy. Then, to me, he basically tarnished a great album by kicking it off with Mandy and I decided, 'I can't do this music any more.' I couldn't stomach the idea of doing the rounds singing Mandy but the other lads were happy to do that. Yet, they didn't write songs, they have no need to be creative at that level, they want to be successful, so if singing Mandy will make them millions that's what they'll do. Whereas I'd rather be number three with a song we wrote."

The "final straw" for Brian came when Paul Higgins, head of security and his best friend in the group, took time out from working with them and then it was decided that the band didn't want him back. But Brian's split didn't come until "after a press conference at the Meteor Awards" when "nine out of the 10 questions asked by the press" were about Brian's private life, and the other members of Westlife later "lashed into" him, saying "that was a f**king disgrace", and he left. McFadden also reveals that even if, on that night's RTE news reports of Westlife's break-up, his four fellow-members of the group were "highly emotional" it wasn't because of him leaving.

'NO, it was because they thought this was the end of Westlife, the end of their careers," he says. "But they had asked me to reconsider and I did. I said I'd finish the tour because I wanted a final payoff! Yet, they were going to split up but then Louis Walsh - who is my friend now but wasn’t then - talked them out of that and they came back to me and said 'We don't want you to do the tour.'

"They didn't want me making any more money if I wasn't to be involved after that. But I love the lads and they are there if I need them. Yet I've never regretted leaving Westlife and wouldn't go back. Sometimes I think, 'I could have had millions if I stayed!' but I don't make music for money any more. It's not that I'm rich. After my divorce, I hit rock bottom. But I've made money from my solo career because the royalties are coming in for songs like Real to Me. Besides, if I'd stayed in Westlife I'd never have had my first solo records or met Delta, and these are the things that matter to me now, apart from my kids."

Kian & Jodi Body Language Analysis In Star Magazine – 22 March 2007

Will They Last? Is it the real thing or a passing fling? We ask the expert…

Jodi Albert & Kian Egan

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Body Language Specialist Mo Shapiro says:

“There is some connection between these two, although Kian is walking slightly behind Jodi. His right arm is stretched around Jodi’s hip, trying to bring her closer. Kian looks as if he wants to continue walking, but Jodi is stopping him – she has her hand over his crotch. She seems to prefer to stand and pose and soak up all the limelight. Jodi is looking very coy, expressing vulnerability and making Kian want to protect her. It’s a seductive come-one sign, but doesn’t appear to be aimed at Kian. Despite a show of fun, there is some space between them; their hands aren’t close and they are looking in different directions.”

Will they last?

“No. I don’t think they are playing the same game, although I’m not sure they realise that. Kian looks anxious and has a forced smile. He doesn’t want to engage in the public show Jodi is putting on – and the fact he feels the need to protect his crotch area shows he may not totally trust her. On the other hand, Jodi is keen to take center stage without Kian’s interference.”

Why We All Love Westlife – 22 March 2007

Westlife return to Cardiff International Arena tonight for their seventh Cardiff date inside a year and once again 15,000 fans have swooped to buy up all the tickets.

But who are the people who, time and again, swarm to see this ageing boyband at pounds 29.50 a pop and why do they do it?

'I know it's not cool to like Westlife but we don't care about that,' said 20-year-old Hana Wilbraham, who is magnetically-drawn to the CIA every year along with her sister Lucy and mother Christine.

The Wilbrahams, who live in Little Mill, Whitchurch, Cardiff, have seen Kian, Mark, Nicky and Shane 15 times between them since 2003 and while they are not obsessive fans, they do share a strong family bond through the group.

'That's one of the main things for me,' said Christine, 49, a nursery school teacher.

'Dads can take their sons to watch football matches but there's not a lot of things mothers and daughters can share in that way.'

Uwic media student Hana, whose favourite is Nikki ('because he's the best looking'), agrees with her mother.

'It's definitely a family thing for a lot of people and you see mothers there with daughters or grandparents and that's nice. We've grown up with Westlife.'

The band have obviously grown up too, boy band to bloke band, and Christine says the group has progressed musically.

'They have moved on from a boy band, they have grown into a more all-round musical act doing Rat Pack-type music as well as the big ballads. The audience has changed too. It used to be all screaming girls but now you see more boyfriends and husbands and more mature ladies.'

Does husband and father Mark, a hospital maintenance manager, go with them?

'No, dad likes the older bands like Foreigner but we have got him into a bit of Jack Johnson and James Morrison,' said Lucy, 20, a journalism student at Cardiff University.

'Laura (the third Wilbraham daughter, 23) doesn't like Westlife either, she's into her R'n'B.

'She's grown out of it.'

Does their older sister or do any of their friends tease them for still liking Westlife?

'I can see why some people wouldn't like them because it's not fashionable,' said Lucy, whose favourite member is Shane ('because he has the best voice').

'A lot of pop music now is guitar-based and Westlife might seem a bit '90s because they are still pure pop.

'But they are so good at what they do and people may criticise them for it but it really gets their audiences going - maybe you have to be a fan to appreciate that.

'They were always a bit cheesy and they still are a bit, in a slightly different way. But a bit of cheese never hurt anyone.'

Coleen Scoops Diddy To DJ At Party – 20 March 2007

Rapper P Diddy will perform at Coleen McLoughlin's 21st birthday — along with a DJ from her local boozer.

The hip-hop star stepped in after both Take That and Westlife turned the lovely Liverpudlian down.

It looks like Coleen will be pulling out all the stops to make Diddy's stay as comfortable as possible, the Sun reports that a private jet will whisk him to the party from Dublin, where he will be touring with fellow US rapper Snoop Dogg.

However Wayne Rooney's girl hasn't forgotten her roots, before the multi-platinum American producer takes to the decks, Will Rogers, a DJ from Coleen's local The Lobster in Croxteth, will warm up the crowd.

The birthday girl managed to pull of the impressive coo as Diddy has struck up a friendship with Coleen's fiancé Wayne Rooney, 21. The couple will rope off a VIP section for him at the bash. But Coleen's old pal Will, 21, will be allowed to meet the star. A source told the Sun newspaper: “It was looking like Coleen's 21st would be a let down.

“Brian McFadden and Gary Barlow also turned her down. Diddy rescued the situation by making a special effort to turn up on the night.”

Guests at Thornton Manor on The Wirral, Merseyside, have been warned not to take photos or ask for autographs.

Girls Aloud, the Beckhams, former Atomic Kitten Liz McLarnon and dozens of footballers have been invited.

SIRF Ad In Upcoming Westlife Tour Magazine – 16 March 2007

As many of you know, Westlife have played a huge part in SIRF’s success to date. Since our formation last year, they have stood by us supporting our every move. They first presented us with a platinum award disc which was auctioned on eBay for over 1000. SIRF then hit the headlines when Kian Egan and his gorgeous girlfriend Jodi Albert jumped from 13,000 feet in a charity skydive to raise awareness for the cause. Mark, Shane and Nicky all sponsored the day bringing vital funds to SIRF which helped to build the first Kindergarten.

Some unsuspecting women got the fright of their lives when Kian was auctioned off at SIRF’s “Man Auction” last August and a lot more women were kicking themselves for missing the occasion.

Kian has also spoke on SIRF’s behalf on many occasions never hesitating to take a radio or newspaper interview. They have also been there on many occasions to offer their advice and help to SIRF when ever needed. It is safe to say that SIRF would not be where it is today without their help and support.

This time around the lads have offered SIRF a full-colour advert in the upcoming Westlife tour guide that kicks off in the UK very soon. This will surely bring much-needed publicity to the cause and help to spread the word of SIRF’s work in Indonesia

SIRF Would Like To Thank The Westlife Fans – 16 March 2007

Much of SIRF’s fundraising and efforts have been located in the village of Strandhill, Ireland. A tribute must go out to the Westlife fans, who were behind us right from the very beginning. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for their support, kind words and interest in our work. Westlife fansites being run by people like Vicky in the Netherlands and Pamela in the UK have spread the word to so many people around the world and they are the one of the reasons why SIRF is now becoming known in farther places than we could have ever imagined.

I hope that you will continue to support us and maybe even download a “SIRF Pack”. In time who knows - we may have a Kindergarten in Indonesia called the “Westlife kindergarten”...

Access All Areas.net.au: It’s great to see you again in Australia, how has the Australian leg of the Love Album tour been going for you?
Westlife - Kian: It’s been going great. It’s only the fifth night of the tour and our last night in Australia and it’s been really good to be honest. I think the first time to ever tour Australia the response has been pretty strong every city feels like there’s a big audience there. We’re very happy with it to be honest with you, we couldn’t be happier

Access All Areas.net.au: Brisbane is your final show, how have Australian audiences taken to the shows?
Westlife - Kian: It’s very different for us. Generally back home we do concerts on a very different scale not necessarily audience wise but well I mean we have four or five thousand people a night here so far and that’s amazing for us and we’re very appreciative of that because it’s our first tour but the audience back at home we’re looking at eight or nine thousand a minimum a night and our production would be very very large, we’d have a completely over produced stage to a certain extent and we’re very used to that and to be breaking a tour down to the extent that we’ve broken it down tonight you kind of feel a wee bit naked on the stage but I think that kind of brings a better performance out in us and it makes us kind of give more to the audience because we don’t have the fancy tricks behind us its just down to the four of us and the songs.

Access All Areas.net.au: This is your sixth arena tour; does touring still excite you as much as it did the first and second time?
Westlife - Kian: It’s actually our eighth tour… and very much so I think you can never take a buzz away from standing in front of an audience and hearing the reaction of whatever amount of people it is cheering for you because they enjoy doing what you do and I think in that sense generally I think its just a nice feeling to be on tour and be shown appreciation from the fans for what you’ve done over the last year you know promoting a new album, making a new album, seeing that they’re still loving what you do so. I suppose the novelty of it to a certain extent has worn away from the like say of the first or second tour you know the whole idea of being on tour you know and our first tour we got smashed every night after the gig whereas we don’t do that anymore it has become part of our lifestyle now and its something that we’re used to now.

Access All Areas.net.au: In Ireland its single digit temperatures and here in Australia it’s been pretty hot weather. Were you prepared and have you adjusted ok to the hot weather?
Westlife - Kian: Yeah well I kind of did my research. You always know when it’s cold in Ireland its warm in Australia so we packed our shorts and t-shirts yeah.

Access All Areas.net.au: Apart from the interior of hotel rooms, have you been able to see much of Australia this time around or go out surfing?
Westlife - Kian: Yeah personally I’ll chase everything when it comes to things like surfing especially when you’re in a country that has so many surf breaks and stuff like that. When we were in Perth I travelled up and down the coastline a good bit for three or four days and last time we were in Melbourne I went down to great ocean road down to the 12 apostles and all that sort of stuff. When we were in Sydney we went to all of the sites, we went to Manly beach and Taronga zoo you know personally I buy a Lonely Planet book wherever I go and Ill read up on what I think is worthy of going to see and what I don’t and I generally hire a car and drive my Girlfriend with me and off we go.

Access All Areas.net.au: Sounds wicked…

Westlife - Kian: Yeah the boys don’t but…

Access All Areas.net.au: You do your own thing!

Access All Areas.net.au: How long does it take you guys to put together a tour of this kind?
Westlife - Kian: Generally about three weeks… three weeks as in the rehearsal stages but from the early early early stages you’re looking at like if we were to start touring for example this year in February we’d start the plans in November like the stage plans things like that because a lot of things have to be built….

Access All Areas.net.au: So you have a good say in the tour and the stage plans, etc?
Westlife - Kian: Well we design everything ourselves… I suppose when you make an album with the record company because it’s their product even though its got the Westlife name on it it’s SonyBMG’s product and they’re the ones selling it and they’re the ones making the money and then they pay us. They have absolutely no involvement in a concert tour, it’s a Westlife product from start to finish, so its up to the four of us to make the decisions. We may hire people in and take their ideas and put our ideas with their ideas and stuff like that because when you do it so many times it’s very difficult to continue to come up with fresh ideas so in that sense we do hire people in and we do kind of like get different ideas but it’s our baby you know.

Access All Areas.net.au: Your manager has hinted that he’s currently sourcing writers for your next album… where do you see the next album heading?
Westlife - Kian: There will be another album at the end of the year without a doubt and what kind of album it’s going to be exactly yet we’re not 100% sure. There’s a lot of talk about different things, there’s talk about doing a greatest hits part two the best of Westlife or something like that because it’s nine years this year or ten years this year so there’s talk about doing a ten year anniversary like ten years of Westlife or something along them lines and there’s talk about another love album and then there’s talk about another studio album as in original songs. A lot of it comes down to the songs a lot of it will come down to what songs are being suggested if theyre cover versions or what songs are being sent in to us from original song writers and its all going to be based on what’s going to be the best move you know whether we feel like we have a full album of hits or do we thing another teened album shall we call it is going to work so it’s going to be interesting to see.

Access All Areas.net.au: Any chance of coming back to Australia for another tour?
Westlife - Kian: As far as we’re concerned we’d have no issue with putting it on our yearly tour it only takes a week and a half to do it five nights you know so I mean without boring the readers with the politics of it its down to a promoter. It’s down to a promoter coming to Westlife and saying yeah we want you guys you know and if the offer is there and if it makes sense for us to do it then we’ll do it you know it’s the best way to explain it. We’re not going to come down here if we’re losing money and we’re not necessarily interested in coming down here and walking away with a hell of a lot of money or anything like that because we know it’s a new territory for us and it’s a territory we want to build on so that is kind of the way we look at it.

Westlife - Kian: We were coming down here to build on the fact that we’ve got our foot in the door or we’ve probably got more than a foot in the door now but we’re the type of the band that once we get a taste for a place we always like to try to keep it growing so we’re extremely interested in doing it on a yearly basis.

There’s No Room In Westlife For Brian

The boys set the record straight on former bandmate Brian Mcfadden and update us on babies, wedding plans and flying fancies!

For eight years now, Westlife have enjoyed their status as the UK's biggest boyband. With 14 UK No.1s singles under their belts, Shane Filan, Mark Feehily, Nicky Byrne and Kian Egan can apparently do no wrong, and the fact that Take That are back on the scene and Boyzone are said to be uniting doesn’t seem to be worrying the band in the slightest. After all they’ve overcome worse. When Brian McFadden dramatically left the group to go solo in 2004, many thought it signalled the end for the boys from Ireland. Three years later, however, the band is going from strength, which is more than can be said for Brian's solo career.

And the boys aren’t doing too bad in their personal lives, either. Since coming out as gay in 2005, Mark, 26, has been dating former V member Kevin McDaid for two years. Nicky, 28, is expecting twins with his wife Georgina, Shane, 27,is happily married to Gillian and dad to 19 month old Nicole, and Kian 26, is loved up with actress Jodi Albert, who he’s been with for four years now, So when new! caught up with the lads before they embarked on their latest tour, we chatted between photos and their joys of family life and whether they’d ever let Brian into Westlife....

Shane, you’ve said Brian was silly to leave Westlife when he did, Do you stand by that?
S::
It was his decision to leave the band and we respect that 100% but I was saying you’d be made to leave Westlife purely on a financial basis. But if you’re not happy in you personal life, then money doesn’t matter.
N:: When you see how happy we are, you do feel "Jesus, why would you want to leave like that?" we live amazing f***ing lives, we see the world over, we perform constantly.
M:: Brian needed to leave at that point. It was something he needed to do…

Would you take him back?
S::
We would never have him back. We definitely wouldn’t rule out singing with him again but we’re so used to being a four piece. He's got a different life now.
N:: Lets put the record straight - There’s no room for Brian in Westlife now. I haven’t had this conversation with Brian but there’s no reason for him to want to be in Westlife now anyway. When he left we totally changed the dynamics and we’ve built up a whole new career as four, so we’re kind of a different band. If we keep going for as long as we intend then Brian will become a distant memory eventually.

Do you still see Brian’s' ex Kerry Katona?
M::
Yeah I still see her but not very often. I’ll text her occasionally and she will text me, but sometimes peoples lives just change and go in different directions. The way I look at the Kerry thing is that I have millions of really fond memories and we had really good fun with her, It’s a shame that we don’t see each other as much as we used to, but she’s moved on now and I think that’s great.
N:: For me, she’s an acquaintenance. We say hello for five minutes but I’ve not spoken to her for three years and don’t have any contact with her. Neither does Georgina, my wife.

Shane, how is life with your daughter Nicole in it?
She’s a proper little girl now. She knows what she wants and likes to get it! She’s starting to talk alot and she likes to climb the stairs on her own, so we have gates everywhere.

Do you and Gillian want more kids eventually?
Oh definitely yes, Wed love to but not right now. I’d like to have three or four kids but with nice age gaps in between. It would be perfect in two years to try and have another baby

Have you been given Nicky your tips on fatherhood?
It’s very hard to advise somebody on how to bring up their child but I tell him different things that have happened with Nicole over the past year. I think he and Georgina are very broody and very excited. It’ll be a complete change to their lifestyles.

Nicky how is Georgina's pregnancy going?
She’s great thanks; The twins have just grown up so quickly. She’s over most of the sickness now but whoever called it morning sickness was having a joke. It’s all day sickness. She was really ill for a long time buts she's so much better now and we’re just so excited. To have two in one is just the icing on the cake.

Is there a history of twins in your families?
Yeah, on both sides, I was getting all the blame in the beginning but I was speaking to one of Georgina’s aunts over Christmas and they were saying it’s on their side too.

Willy you find out the sexes?
N::
Were still debating that.
M::
You need to know for their rooms surely?
N::
No! We can do it cream or whatever. We had a conversation with the midwife recently and said the difference when you hand someone a new baby who doesn’t know and tell them it’s a boy or a girl is amazing. I said to Georgina "Why don’t we find out what one of them is, then we will still have a surprise. She told me off and said “We can’t do that!”

Have you chosen baby names yet?
We’ve thought about names but I’m not giving anything away.

Mark, how is your relationship with Kevin going at the moment?
Fantastic, It’s been two years now and the best two years of my life to be honest. It’s the final piece of my jigsaw.

Was it difficult hiding your sexuality for so long?
Being in love with someone and in a relationship was something I craved and really wanted. I’ve had that for the past two years and it’s been the most positive change I’ve ever experienced. He’s absolutely wonderful. He lives with me in my apartment and I love him very much.

Any plans to marry Kevin?
We’re not at that stage yet. It’s definitely not something I’d rule out but it’s just not something we’ve talked about. We’re extremely comfortable with each other in our relationship. Believe me, if we ever do decide to get married I’ll be shouting it from the roof tops.

What about you Kian, are you going to propose to Jodi anytime soon?
Mine and Jodi's relationship is all goes. Without a doubt I’d like to get married in the future and obviously I think Jodi is the person I’m going to marry but whether its next year or the year after I don’t know.

What kind of wedding bash would you have?
M::
I’d have a big fabulous party.
K::
If Jodi and I talk about it, we always talk about something a bit different. We’d probably prefer a tropical-style wedding. Id like to get married have a year off and go travelling. When we travel with the band we go first class and stay in fancy hotels. I’d like to rough it a bit and backpack. Jodi would probably insist on first class though.

How Well Do Westlife Know Each Other? – 7 March 2007

They’ve been together for nine years – but how well do Westlife really know each other?

We’ve put them to the test by posing each of them questions about their fellow bandmates – and then finding out whether they’d got the answers right or wrong.

First up for a grilling is Nicky. With Mother’s Day just around the corner, we asked him what the nicest thing Mark’s ever done for his mum is.

Watch Nicky’s answer by clicking here (watch the Westlife Media Player), then head over to the forum by clicking here and have your say as to whether you think he’s got it right!

Hi everyone

I’m writing this on our way to Port Elizabeth, where we’re playing our next gig. We’ve had an amazing time in South Africa so far, the fans have been fantastic and we’ve really enjoyed travelling around this beautiful country.

We’d also like to pass on our thanks to all the Australian fans who came to see our shows – we were completely blown away by you and couldn’t have asked for a better start to our tour. It’s impossible to pick a favourite gig as we enjoyed every single night and the reaction from you lot was incredible. Australia’s amazing!

Am going to try and grab some sleep now, like the other lads are doing – we’re all pretty tired, but loving every minute of it.

Catch you soon

Shane

Jodi: I’m So Kian On Phone Sex – 5 March 2007

GORGEOUS Jodi Albert has revealed how she and boyfriend Kian Egan enjoy X-rated phone sex.

The brunette beauty said the couple have racy late-night calls whenever they are apart.  And it's not just the joy of text - the pair spice things up with saucy photos. But when things get too hot to handle she jets out to her boyfriend's side to act out their phone fantasies.

Jodi, 23, said: "We send each other pictures on our phones and talk every day and night, and sometimes I'll fly out when Kian's on tour for a holiday."

She added that because of their busy work schedules the couple can go for weeks without seeing each other. So they rely on sizzling calls to keep their love life alive. And it certainly seems to be working - Jodi, who foun fame as Hollyoaks honey Debbie Dean, has been dating the Irish boy band singer for four years.

She admitted it was "lust at first sight" when she met Kian, 26.  But the lads mag favourite insisted she didn't care about the Sligo star's playboy reputation.

Jodi claimed Kian is not a heartbreaker, adding: "Anyone who knows Kian knows his playboy reputation is rubbish. He'd never mess a girl around or treat them like notches on his bedpost. If he did I would not be going out with him."

In fact gorgeous Jodi said she wants other women to fancy Kian - because it proves Westlife are still popular.

She added: "He gets a lot of attention. Young girls scream, 'I love you Kian' - I think it's great because it shows that people still care about Westlife. I'm glad other women fancy my boyfriend."

Bookies are already offering 9-1 odds that the loved-up couple will wed this year. Speaking to Take 5 magazine, Jodi admitted she does want to marry. But she denied claims they are to wed in the next 12 months and said the sound of wedding bells are still a long way off.

She added: "We definitely want to get married in the next couple of years but at the moment we're busy carving out our careers."

And when the big day comes around Jodi wants it to be a "classy" affair. In an apparent swipe at other showbiz ceremonies, she vowed there would be no thrones.

She said: "When the time comes I want to have time to plan a classy, elegant wedding. I won't be wearing a big meringue though. I don't aspire to be a Westwife or a Westlife WAG. I aspire to be Kian's wife."

Image Hosted by ImageShack.us

Caption: Westlife's lead singer Shane Filan, drives at the ninth hole at the Pearl Valley Golf Course, Paarl,Cape Town. Filan, as well as Kian Egan and Nicky Byrne,2 other members of the famous group, spent yesterday afternoon on the golf course designed by Jack Nicklaus.

Cape Town - Kian is the prankster in hotelrooms, Mark eats the most and is the most shy, Nicky gets the mail from admirers and Shane plays the best golf.

That was a little bit of the info shared with us, The Ctizen (newspaper name), by one of the members of the Irish popgroup Westlife.

The group, who admitted that they are addicted to Cape Town, are back in the Mother City after a year.

The group performs, as part of their Love Tour, on Friday at the Hamilton's Rugby Club in Green Point (wrong venue u idiot reporter), along with the American singer Michael Bolton and the Danish singer Jascha Richter from Michael Learns to Rock fame.

And if anyone was thinking that Westlife just come to Cape Town to sing, think again, they also come to play Golf!!!!

Nicky Byrne, a member of the group, said that after the interview Kian Egan, Shane Filan and himself will play a few shots on the course. "Shane is obviously the best player from us all, but today I'll show him a thing or two", Byrne threatened.

Byrne did not want to divulge too much info regarding the concerts, but said that it is always fantastic to perform for South African fans.

"South Africa is always a great place to visit and we have amazing fans here", he said from his luxurious hotel room in the city yesterday.

"It's going to be an exciting performance with all the old favourites and a few new songs".

Furthermore, the Irish heartbreaker did not want to divulge anymore, other than there would be a "surprise" in store.

Byrne said that despite other popgroups breaking up and singers folowing solo careers, it is NOT Westlife's plan.

"I think that's the one thing that makes us different from other groups. We want to keep Westlife alive for as long as we can and as long, especially since we enjoying it so much"

"We 4 normal guys and we know that we lucky to be doing this as a living".

But what will happen when the curtains close?

"We try to spend as much of our free time with our family and friends and to stay as normal and genuine as possible, because we don't think our families will like us if we suddenly became big-headed".

"And if ever we 4 don't see each other for long periods of time after Westlife, we'll call each other up and hang out", said Byrne about his 3 bandmates.

*Westlife, Richter and Bolton perform on March 4th in Johannesburg, March 6th in Port Elizabeth, March 7th in Bloemfontein, March 8th in Durban and March 9th in Cape Town

Stopover Concert – 1 March 2007

IT'S a good bet the impossibly youthful-looking lads from Westlife won't be looking -- or feeling -- quite so wrinkle-free this morning.

The Irish quartet, who've sold more than 40 million albums worldwide, flew into Brisneyland yesterday ahead of their final Oz gig at that place in the swamp at Boondall. It was a case of second-time lucky for Kian, Nicky, Mark and Shane, who -- you remember -- were forced to cancel their first Oz tour back in September for unspecified reasons, although we're sure it had nothing to do with poor ticket sales.

This time round we understand the poor Westies would barely have had a chance for a post-concert bed down at their luxurious Hilton digs before catching an early am flight out of Brisbane enroute to South Africa.

Forget any visions of private jets, ala former boy bander Robbie Williams -- for these guys it's commercial all the way.

New Mark Interview! – 1 March 2007

Westlife Star Mark Feehily Came Out To The World Two Years Ago.

SUNNY BURNS How are you finding Australia?

MARK FEEHILY Australia has been great so far. We went to Perth and had a few days off in the sun, but we have been skipping from place to place for the last few gigs.

SB You came out two years ago. Was it a big step?

MF It was enormous at the time. I’m lucky that I had the support of all my family, band members and fans. Since then it has all died down, which to be honest is what I want. I wanted to say it and then for it to go away. The less deal made about it the better. I want the message to be that it’s no big deal being gay.

SB So what made you come out?

MF It was an issue that I needed to sort out and I didn’t want to hide it any more. My entire life wasn’t a depression or anything like that. There were some elements that were really hard and at times I didn’t have time to think about it because I was so busy in the band. When the band slowed down, I realised that some part of my life was missing.

SB Did your family and band know beforehand?

MF My family and friends already knew. I also told the band a long time before I came out to the public. They are fine with it.

SB Do you have a boyfriend?

MF I met my boyfriend Kevin McDaid two years ago. He was also in a boy band called V.

SB Was he also a reason for you to come out?

MF Yes, I didn’t want to be going to the cinema or restaurants with hats on and worrying about people seeing me. That’s not me at all. So, I nipped it in the bud and started a relationship and came out. It has worked really well.

SB How did you meet Kevin?

MF We met at a charity gig in Dublin. Neither of us was publicly gay at the time and we didn’t know that each other was gay. It was really funny. We just connected and have excellent chemistry.

SB How is the relationship going?

MF It’s going fantastic. We just had a two-year anniversary at the end of January. We went to the charity concert where we first met and partied all that night. The next day I hired out a penthouse and got a dog as well. We just spent the entire day lounging around watching TV and getting room service. It was really nice. We also have a place in London together. He is just a missing piece of me that I haven’t had for so long and something I always longed to have and now I have it. It’s better than I thought it would be.

SB Are you doing anything for Mardi Gras?

MF No, because we have gigs in Melbourne and Brisbane. I was here last year, practically for the whole event. I saw the parade. It was one of the best nights of my entire life. This time we are just missing it by the skin of our teeth. I was really disappointed. I’m jealous that you all get to go to Mardi Gras.

Westlife’s latest CD The Love Album is out now.
