Westlife hunk Shane Filan has revealed that whilst the band maybe have 10 years under their belts they are aiming for at least another ten at the top.
He insisted the chart toppers who play at pearse Stadium in Galway on 21st June and Fitzgerald Staidum on 22nd June ,have learned from the mistakes that many groups have made before them,.
"Weve seen so many bands come and go" said Sligo man Shane Filan, "Mostly its a silly falling out or a clash of egos"
"Ive heard of groups falling out over the most stupidist of things. like who gets the front seat of the tour bus. "
"Were determined not to make the same mistakes. "
Shane revealed that there are no major rows within Westlife as no one is allowed to get a swelled head. "
"IF youre starting to get any notions, youre quicklly told by the others to shut up and cop on." He said
Shane said thats he and bandmates, Nicky, Mark and Kian keep
each other in line.
"None of us will put up with any crap so its slapped down fast. Were all
guilty of it sometimes."
Shane rubbished reports that have surfaced throughout the past 10 years about band members going solo.
"These rumours are totally untrue. Its never come to that."
"We all love being in this band and if anything, as time goes on were getting closer and enjoying it more. I think wed all hate to be out on on our own".
Shane claims that one of the secrets of their sucess is that the band members are supportive rather than competitive."
"The main reason we stuck together is we know our own strengths." Shane said.
"Some of us are better at interviews, some of us at TV Presenting and some at business matters. "
"We all have different talents so we devide eveyrthing up more or less and play to our strenghts"
"We support each other and want to see each other do well. Were now almost 10 years together which is unheard of for a boyband so we must be doing something right."
He insisted that Westlife are going strength to strength even thought the musci industry has fallen into a slump internationally.
"The market has generally fallen, but were still selling as many albums as ever" said Shane.
"Ticket sales are still growing for eveyr tour ,So we reckon well be around for a few years yet."
"We know it cant last forever but as long as its here for us, were going to enjoy it."
"We would love another ten years but whatever we get, were not throwing it a way."
Meanwhile it has emerged that the chart toppers saved the marriage of pop beauty Sophie Ellis Bextor. according to her hubbie.
Sophie's husband Richard Jones of The Feeling revealed that the teen idols managed to break up a major row by the pair..
The pair who have been married for three years, were having an argument in a car when the Sligo lads interupted.
"We were in SOHO square before we got married , and we got into a bit of aheated discussion , then suddely out of nowhere Westlife appeared and walked past our car. "
"It completely diffused the argument and was so random".
"It was like Westlife have just walked past the car. "
He joked "It saved my marriage"
