Exclusive Westlife star sings Brothers' praises
WESTLIFE star Mark Feehily has given Scots duo The MacDonald Brothers the thumbs up and insists they'll have a great career.
Westlife manager Louis Walsh mentored The X Factor wannabes who were ripped to shreds by Westlife's label svengali and the show's creator Simon Cowell.
But Mark admits the band are fans of the lads who will be performing with Westlife at ASDA's Be Live! event, at Aberdeen's Exhibition and Conference Centre Mark, 27, said: "The MacDonald Brothers know we like them.
"We are associated with Simon but he is not the be all and end all. He helps make our records but just because Simon slags them off doesn't mean we agree with him.
"We have toured with the MacDonald Brothers before and we have nothing but love for them. They are great.
"I haven't spoken to them for a while but they definitely have a future in the entertainment business."
Both acts will perform at the ASDA Be Live! event, along with Glasgow boyband Pacific Avenue.
Mark said: "I love coming to Scotland because there is such a warm welcome.
"It's similar to back home in Ireland. There's the same mentality with people who like a laugh. It feels like we are at home in Scotland."
The date also coincides with the release of Westlife's new single Home, the following day.
It's taken from the band's ninth album Back Home and they will be hoping it is the 15th No.1 of their career.
But Mark admits he was worried when critics claimed the departure of Brian McFadden, in 2004, would mark the group's demise.
He said: "I did fear the unknown when Brian left and that it could be the end.
"People were saying Westlife was over, but I was relieved because I thought maybe now the madness would stop. We'd had years of Westlife mania and travelling the world.
"I was still quite young. I was a bit naive and too fast in believing the people who said Westlife were over. I know better now than to listen to what everyone else says."
Meanwhile, Mark has denied reports he is to wed his partner Kevin McDaid.
"I have no intention to get married," he said.
"It's not something we have looked into.
"If I ever do decide to get married, I will be the first to tell everyone.
"But we are are both very happy with things the way they are at the moment."
