Westlife Join Boyzone To Celebrate The Life Of Stephen Gately

Westlife joined Boyzone on stage for a special show in memory of Stephen earlier in the week. The boys went along to perform and show their support on the show, 'Boyzone: A Tribute to Stephen Gately', which will air on ITV1 on 21st March. Boyzone’s new album Brother is out now, and features the current single ‘Gave It All Away’, a tribute to their hugely-missed bandmate.

Westlife on the Oliver Pocher Show

Westlife have recently been out in Europe promoting 'Where We Are' and the single 'What About Now' across Europe, and on a recent trip to Germany were thrilled to appear on the massive Oliver Pocher Show! Performance at the Children's Champions Awards

The Children's Champions Awards took place last week, honouring both people who have done some amazing work with children, and children who have helped other children in need. Westlife performed 'What About Now' on the show and were amongst the many big names in attendance at this star-studded event, hosted by Chris Evans and Amanda Holden. You can watch the show this Wednesday (March 10th) on Sky 1 at 8pm.

A Stephen Gately tribute will feature the last music the singer made

Boyzone will host a moving TV celebration of the life of their tragic friend who died last year.

Boyzone: A Tribute To Stephen Gately will include a series of show-stopping Boyzone numbers and some on-off collaborations. Amid the music will be the story of Stephen’s life.

His friends were eager to get involved.

There are clips of hosts of his celeb admirers playing tribute.

The hour-long film will tell the story of Stephen’s 33 years from his childhood in Dublin to success with the band and as a solo performer.

Louis Walsh said: “Stephen would be delighted to have a night dedicated to him and I know he’ll be watching down on us all on the night a big smile on his face.”

Some of the performances were recorded at special live gig during which Boyzone and Westlife teamed up to perform No Matter What.

Other stars including Girls Aloud’s Nadine Coyle and Mika joined in.

Boyzone - Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy, Shane Lynch and Mikey Graham – will give a moving performance of both old favourites and new material.

Kian and Jodi open Balzac bubbly for suite success

How suite. Kian Egan and Jodi Albert looked like love's young dream as they celebrated something or other with dinner a deux in Balzac recently. They had a bottle of champagne before decamping to the Mezz bar, which, until recently, was overseen by the incomparable Jackie Rafter. (She left last week to work for Michael Wright's new club in Swords. "I got an offer I couldn't refuse," she told me. )

Kian and Jodi enjoyed themselves. The Westlife popstar and his starlet wife spent the weekend in La Stampa. They took a suite at Louis Murray's hotel -- spending three nights in the best suite in the establishment, the Moroccan.

Meanwhile, I bumped into superchef Dylan McGrath in The Shelbourne, on the Saturday of last weekend. We both watched the Ireland rugby game. He told me that he is close to signing the deal to take over the running of Balzac restaurant. Close but no brandy and cigar. Yet.

Up the road at Derry and Sallyanne Clarke's L'Ecrivain restaurant on Baggot Street, Fiona Nagle came in at 9pm on the Friday of last weekend with a friend and stayed until a little before 1am. They had a little wine and and a chat. My sauce at the next table told me that Fiona was "looking absolutely stunning. She has never looked better in her life."

You could say the same about beautiful foodie goddess Rachel Allen, who tells me she and husband Isaac are going to New York for St Patrick's Day.

"We're staying at the Standard." I'm glad to see she isn't dropping hers.

Westlife to perform at charity ball in April

Charity ball is a given for Shay

Shay Given and his team-mates from Manchester City will be among many top celebs to grace the red carpet at a special charity event in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support which takes place this April.

Premier players in football, fashion and food will unite to ensure that the glamorous event will be one that will raise much needed funds for three worthy causes. This year the successful red-carpet event offers an exclusive performance by Westlife, a celebrity fashion show from Selfridges, a lavish dinner by top chefs Brian Turner and Paul Rankin, as well as a charity auction.

Nicky Byrne from Westlife said: “We are really pleased to be asked to be involved in this event once again. We can’t wait to join up with Shay and all the other players for what is set to be a fabulous evening.”

The fashion show will see Manchester City players themselves modelling Selfridges spring summer collections.

The whole event will take place in two dedicated marquees in the Lancashire County Cricket Ground in Manchester and be compéred by radio DJ Neil Fox on April 13th.

All funds raised on the night will be distributed between three worthy causes, namely the Macmillan Cancer Support, ‘Adopt a School’ project and the Beechwood Centre for Cancer Care in Stockport.

Shay, who is a patron of Macmillan said: “My wife Jane and I are proud to support Fashion Kicks once again. The night promises to be an entertainment extravaganza with all those involved kindly donating their time towards a very worthy cause.”

Manchester City Chairman, Khaldoon Al Mubarak said: "As Patron of such a worthy charity, Shay works tirelessly to raise not only funds, but also the profile of the Macmillan Cancer Appeal. The club is committed to seeing him succeed. I wish Shay, and all those who support Macmillan's work, the very best, for both the ‘Fashion Kicks’ night itself and for all of their other wonderful fundraising work."

BOYZONE WANT TO RECORD ALBUM WITH WESTLIFE

BOYZONE want to record an album with Westlife to show Irish solidarity.

Both manbands were created by X Factor judge Louis Walsh, 57, but they’ve never performed together until this week.

On Monday they recorded an ITV1 tribute to the late Boyzone member Stephen Gately, which is due to air on March 21.

I caught up with BZ afterwards where Shane Lynch, 33, told me: “I can’t believe that it’s taken us 12 years to perform together. I’d love to record an album with Westlife and I’ve told them that.

“It would be nice to do it for charity. American artists like Jay-Z and Rihanna stick together and I think that we should be more like that too.”

Filming was emotional for Shane, Ronan Keating, Mikey Graham, 37 and Keith Duffy, 35, who were singing their hits for the first time without Steo.

Ronan, 32, admitted: “I’m so glad that’s over. I felt so drained and I don’t know how we got through that but I’m glad we did.”

Stars including Robbie Williams, 36, have filmed tributes for the singer, who died last October, but BZ haven’t watched them yet.

Shane revealed: “We’re going to get together on the night it goes out and watch it all the way through.”

The guys duet with Mika, 26, on new single Gave It All Away, which he wrote.

Stephen’s husband Andrew Cowles, 32, watched filming and confirmed: “It would be nice if they could find the strength to continue to tour.”

Boyzone’s new album Brother is out on Monday.
